"Larguem Minha Fantasia" marca a inauguração do espaço expositivo da Asfalto e busca ser mais do que uma simples curadoria de obras reunidas para uma exposição, ela se propõe a ser um manifesto que anuncia as vocações desse espaço, respondendo às expectativas do que somos e, principalmente, do que não somos.
Nossa vontade aqui é contar histórias que não são óbvias, histórias que por vezes são tão reais que parecem inventadas. Nossa vontade é reunir um conjunto de narrativas que possa complexificar a noção do real, mas, sobretudo, que seja enfática em dizer que o que se entende por "periférico" não se resume a uma única forma e não se esgota em usos vulgares. Dizemos em coro e manifesto, que a periferia é uma força, um movimento criativo; não é margem e sim um deslocamento do centro, que inventa novas disposições espaciais tão improváveis e impossíveis quanto o espaço que abriga a exposição.
Inspirada no carnaval subversivo de Joãozinho 30 para a Beija Flor: “Ratos e Urubus, Larguem Minha Fantasia”, a exposição convida os espectadores a explorar a multiplicidade de histórias presentes nas obras dos artistas que aqui expõem, reinterpretando o termo “fantasia” não apenas como uma vestimenta carnavalesca, mas também como uma tecnologia política da imaginação.

"Larguem Minha Fantasia" marks the inauguration of the Asfalto exhibition space and aims to be more than just a simple curation of works brought together for an exhibition; it intends to be a manifesto that announces the vocations of this space, responding to the expectations of what we are and, above all, what we are not.
Our desire here is to tell stories that are not obvious, stories that are sometimes so real that they seem invented. Our intention is to gather a collection of narratives that can complicate the notion of the real, but, above all, that emphatically states that what is understood as "peripheral" is not limited to a single form and does not end in vulgar uses. We proclaim in chorus and manifesto that the periphery is a force, a creative movement; it is not a margin but rather a displacement from the center, inventing new spatial arrangements as improbable and impossible as the space that houses the exhibition.
Inspired by Joãozinho 30’s subversive carnival for Beija Flor: "Rats and Vultures, Leave My Costume Alone," the exhibition invites spectators to explore the multiplicity of stories present in the works of the artists exhibiting here, reinterpreting the term "fantasy" not only as a carnival costume but also as a political technology of imagination.

If you fall, the vulture eats you"
